Grateful to Girl Guides Singapore for having me over to speak to their girls about overcoming leadership barriers. It was an honour to share my personal experiences and hopefully inspire the next generation.
It's hard to believe that I was once a Girl Guide myself, and to come back to this association 20 years later was truly special.
During the talk, I conducted an interactive live poll on the inequalities faced by these girls, and the results were disheartening. It was alarming to see that fat shaming topped the list, followed by gender inequality. It is heart-breaking that girls at such a young age are already grappling with such issues.
I shared with them that, despite the challenges and setbacks I’ve faced, I never gave up on my dreams. I turned my negative experiences into positive energy, and it has made me a stronger, more resilient person. I encouraged the girls to do the same and to NEVER let anyone dim their light.
We must send a powerful message to these mean and unkind people and, most importantly, to ourselves, that we are worth more than their judgments.
We are strong, capable, and resilient, and we have the power to overcome any obstacle that comes our way.
I personally also want to take a moment to address those who may find me inspirational and aspire to be like me.
While I appreciate your admiration, I hope that you do not have to go through the same tough times that I have faced in my life.
Instead, I encourage you to strive to be the best version of yourself and pave your own unique path. Remember, every individual has their own set of challenges and strengths.
I want to thank Girl Guides Singapore for having me and for providing such a fantastic platform to inspire the next generation. Remember, we can all be leaders in our own right. With the right mindset and attitude, we can overcome any obstacle and be leaders in our own journey called LIFE!
Lots of love,
